Enjoying a movie under the stars is one luxury we’ll see the return of.
As we gear up for our impending hot vax summer, our eyes lit up when we stumbled across news that Sunset Cinema is planning to bring their event to the Geelong community this summer.
Delivering outdoor cinema experiences across multiple locations for 10 years, the beloved cinema has now advertised a job opportunity for an event manager to help them see out the summer season in Geelong.
While certainly a great job opportunity for one lucky local, it’s what the job listing means for the region that has us beaming with absolute joy, bringing the wonder back into a trip to the movies.
The key takeaways
- Sunset Cinema is planning to bring an outdoor movie season to Geelong
- The location and timing of the event is yet to be announced
- Sunset Cinema is perfect for getting back outdoors and in this time of social distancing the event is tailored for your safety
Previously taking to locations in Canberra, North Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Wollongong, the well-loved outdoor cinema delivers a laid-back Aussie summer experience in the lush surrounds of city gardens where attendees enjoy flicks on the big screen with the sun going down and the stars coming out.
Setting up in a central location with beanbags, beverages and buckets of popcorn, the sunset cinema brings their knowledge and experience to create a fun and COVID safe event for the Geelong community.
Whether you pack and bring your own picnic hampers and your own rug, or indulge in the food trucks and hire a bean bag that are set up on site, Sunset Cinema is perfect for getting back outdoors and in this time of social distancing the event is tailored for your safety, whilst maintaining the signature Sunset vibe you know and love.
Judging from previous years, it’s likely they’ll be bringing a feast of festive films, like timeless classics Love Actually and Home Alone to bring on the Christmas spirit, as well as a batch of new cinema releases and family favourites, pleasing all kinds of movie lovers.
Simply have a scroll on their Instagram to get an idea of what Geelong can expect to see come summer.
We don’t have news of a location or exact time yet, but the job listing revealed that season is due to commence in November and end in early January – however, this may change due to the current circumstances.
We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
