Sunflower-picking returns to the Surf Coast this summer

Words by Staff Writer

Golden and glorious: spend your summer frolicking through sunflowers and take them home thanks to Surf Coast Sunflowers.

A new season of the suns favourite flower is upon us and Surf Coast Sunflowers are excited to welcome back families and friends to their glowing, yellow crop.

The picturesque farm on the Surf Coast, nestled into Considines Rd in Modewarre, is opening its gates to guests to frolic through the flower fields and get hands-on by picking your own sunflower to brighten up your home. The season starts from Friday 27 December and wraps up when the flowers are gone.

  • When: Open from 27 December
  • Cost: $5 for adults, kids are free. $3 for stems.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.

Surf Coast Sunflowers encourage you to pack a picnic and enjoy it amongst the flowers before selecting your stems to take home. The Airstream caravan will be back on site again to also provide cold refreshments.

Sadly the weather this season has been unconventional for farmers to fully flourish in so the sunflowers are standing slightly shorter this year but they are still just as stunning nonetheless. Generously, Surf Coast Sunflowers have reduced the price for stems, charging only $3 for each pick or $25 for a bunch of 10.

Entry fees are only $5 for adults with kids welcome for free. Being a working farm, make sure to wear closed-toe shoes and leave your furry friends at home, as neighbouring paddocks are home to some friendly livestock.

It’s the perfect outdoor activity for the summer school holidays so head on down to Surf Coast Sunflowers to brighten up your life and your home!
