A unique way to celebrate 'Always Was, Always Will Be'.
Indigenous artworks are illuminating the Geelong CBD this week in celebration of the rescheduled NAIDOC Week.
Taking to City Hall nightly from 8:30pm to 11pm, the display features animated digital projections created by Matt Bonner, featuring Aboriginal artwork developed through The Torch art, cultural and arts vocational programs.
Projected in such a way that the multi-dimensional buildings appeared to come alive, these artworks represent the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Geelong celebrates NAIDOC week. Usually held in the first week of every July, NAIDOC week is all about encouraging all Australians to embrace the true history of this country – a history which dates back thousands of generations.
The theme for 2020 is Always Was, Always Will Be, recognising Australia’s First People who have occupied the continent and its adjacent islands for over 65,000 years.
