Strawberry Fields announces 30 more acts, three more stages for its October festival

Strawberry Fields 2018 - Shot by Duncographic

Strawberry Fields just keeps getting better: 30 more acts, a multi-level bus rave, a hammam steam room and way more.

Get ready to leave those chilly temperatures and pouring rain behind – Strawberry Fields has given us all something warmer to look forward to this spring.

The festival has added an exciting array of 30 more artists – including London’s soulful house DJ Shy One, jazz aficionados Claps and kings of b2b2b Sky High Trio – along with a series of stage takeovers to its already jam-packed line-up.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Revellers will again be able to boogie waist-deep in the cooling waters of the Murray at riverside stalwart The Beach with a weekend long takeover curated by cult Melbourne radio station PBS FM. Featuring some of PBS FM’s most loved DJs (Ella Stoeckli, Firas, Friday Young, Lloyd Briggs, Mike Guerrieri B2B Shio Otani, Milo Eastwood, Mz Rizk, Zepherin Saint), fans can also anticipate what will surely be an iconic sunset DJ set from Massive Attack’s Daddy G.

Fan favourite Deep Jungle takes on an exciting new riverside location and will see a former ordinary school-bus converted into a multi-level neon rave paradise. Saturday’s program is presented by Resident Advisor, with deep cuts of techno, house and all shades in between delivered by Sassy J, DJ Python, Roza Terenzi, EFFY, Claire Morgan, DJ PGZ, Merve, Hyper Binary, SOJU Gang, Millú and Pjenné.

Major dance arena The Wildlands will see a dramatic facelift with a canopy of tropical themed umbrellas and unique quadraphonic sound system. Geelong wunderkinds UNO Events will also present a special Wildlands themed showcase featuring Dean Turnley, Elliott Creed and Marli.

Strawberry’s signature Bush Spa will expand to cater to more patrons with new mineral baths, a Turkish “hammam” steam room, herbal acupuncture and ice bath workshops. A luxurious bedouin lounge – The Mirage Motel – will host nightly Moroccan tea service as well as a series of secret pop-up jam sessions from some of the festival lineup.

October will also see the introduction of new lifestyle and wellness hub The Village including two new feature structures – The Shala (a dedicated space for yoga, movement & craft workshops) and The Pavilion (a natural amphitheatre hosting speakers, panel talks and performance).

The festival will also feature a Permaculture Course where patrons will help design and construct bushfood gardens on site. Fully powered by biodiesel, the October show will also feature 100% composting toilets, 100% carbon offset of all transport and a reusable crockery system that has avoided over 100,000 single-use items going to landfill since 2019.
