Spinning Half boss Steven Nichols teams up with Geelong institution Lambys to bring original music back to the CBD

Big names in live music will be returning to the Lambys stage in 2023, starting with the incredible Clint Boge, frontman for the legendary Queensland quartet The Butterfly Effect.

In some huge news for the local music scene, Spinning Half boss and former award-winning venue owner Steven Nichols has teamed up with Geelong institution Lambys to bring original music back to the particular stage in Geelong’s city centre in 2023.

Servicing Geelong’s music scene since 2007, Spinning Half has been responsible for some big names performing in Geelong – Parkway Drive’s All Aussie Adventure Tour, and Gang of Youths, among many others, and was instrumental in cultivating The Bended Elbow’s name in the Geelong live music circuit back in the day.

In the following years, Nichols saw The Workers Club become one of Geelong’s most iconic live music venues before its closure, attracting some of Australia’s most renowned musicians and performers over the years, including Mojo Juju, The Bennies, LANKS, Hein Cooper, Lime Cordiale, Abbe May, Client Liaison, Northeast Party House, Luca Brasi, and British India – just to name a few.

Now, Nichols has his sights set on seriously reviving the original live scene at Lambys, joining forces with iconic underground nightclub to bring some big names to the stage this year.

“Anyone who knows me understands that it’s been a long time out in the covid wilderness since the loss of our award-winning music venue Workers Geelong (now operating as the mobile Workers Barbecue) and this opportunity has created a new lease on life,” says Nichols.

“I can’t wait to announce more shows and start booking more tours!”

Kicking off the new partnership, Australian singer-songwriter Clint Boge will be heading to Lambys on May 18 to celebrate the release of his highly anticipated new solo album, The Final Days of Autumn, next month.

The album promises to be a deeply personal and introspective exploration of the human condition, with Boge’s signature blend of rock and folk creating a unique and captivating sound that is not to be missed. Boge is best known for his work with the Australian band The Butterfly Effect, who achieved great success with their latest album “IV” which debuted at number one on the ARIA charts in 2022.

Heading to Geelong as part of a national tour, fans can expect an unforgettable performance from this talented artist, who has been praised for his incredible vocal talent and captivating songwriting.
