This new space is well and truly an outdoor oasis.
Alrighty, food truck lovers of Victoria, it’s time. The Bin Chicken has finally announced its first event set to take over South Geelong this Saturday, May 15.
The key takeaways
- The Bin Chicken is Geelong’s newest food truck and event space
- It will be hosting its first event this weekend
- The Side Hustle Market runs from 11am to 5pm Saturday, May 15
With plans originally submitted to the City of Greater Geelong last year by The Food Truck Projects and Geelong resident Aaron Dixon detailing his move to develop a block of land on Little Fyans St in South Geelong for a food and drink premises (food trucks), it seems the plans have been given the green light, with The Bin Chicken revealing the details of its first event this weekend.
Inspired by Dixon’s similar past project ‘The Bird Watching Society’ in Prahan, the new outdoor event space intends to host food trucks, coffee vans, unique themed markets and stallholders, car clubs and sports groups, plant sellers, popup stallholders and fitness groups/teachers, offering Geelong a unique space to explore all the things we love.
For its first run, we’ll be seeing the ‘Side Hussle Market’ take over the space with a number of local vendors selling their unique goods, alongside a hefty lineup of delicious food trucks.
According to the original plans, the event space is set to include a decent-sized grassed lounge area and seating for up to 120 people, a row of parking space for food trucks, and a car park for the customers so we’re super keen to head down for its first event and check it all out.
Oh and the best part? It’s going to be dog friendly, so that’s us sold.
The Side Hustle Market & Food Trucks goes down from 11am – 5pm at 46 Little Fyans St, South Geelong. You can visit the Facebook event here.
