After seven years of crafting coastal soundscapes, sharing tunes by firelight, and building a solid community on Wadawurrung country, South Atlas have officially dropped their debut EP—and they’re throwing a launch party to match the heart and soul that’s gone into it.
These Surf Coast locals have long been known for their grassroots gigs and deep connection to their community, but this new release marks something more personal. The EP isn’t just a musical milestone—it’s the product of a journey through grief, growth, and celebration for the band members, captured at a time when life hit hard and beautiful in equal measure.

“We released the album at Easter, a time held sacred by countless cultures around the world,” says frontman Lachy Hurrell. “A time of celebration of seasons, community and change.” And there couldn’t be a more fitting description of their music—emotive, grounded, and full of movement.
To celebrate the launch, South Atlas are gathering the tribe at Bells Beach Brewing in Torquay on April 25, and they’ve invited some seriously special guests to help kick it off.
Opening the night is Seal Prince, a duo whose earthy folk tunes come straight from the heart and straight from country. Then there’s Ruby Lou Band, led by a voice Lachy first heard while sharing songs in the ancient Tarkine Forest—yep, that kind of story. Expect raw honesty, storytelling magic, and a whole lotta soul.
Of course, the main event is South Atlas themselves—taking the stage and sharing the songs they’ve been lovingly piecing together for years.
