From Friday, October 6 to Sunday, October 8, SOUND TRACKS turned the spotlight on a fully restored steam train that carried passengers from the bustling Southern Cross station to the serene town of Charlton. This unique journey was marked by performances from acclaimed artists, including Harvey Sutherland, Glass Beams, Juno Mamba, and the mesmerizing Maple Glider in a solo act.
Supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria and delivered in partnership with Music Victoria, SOUND TRACKS Charlton wasn’t just another event; it was a celebration of camaraderie and community.
The adventure began with thirteen carriages and one engine, all set to take passengers on a ride through the stunning Dja Dja Wurrung country. As the steam train wound its way through the picturesque landscape, attendees enjoyed cocktails, canapés, and made new friends on the Dancefloor Carriage. The journey included stops in Geelong and Ballarat, offering passengers a chance to explore and appreciate the beauty of the Victorian countryside. The train’s final destination was the idyllic town of Charlton, where passengers received a warm Welcome to Country and enjoyed a BBQ breakfast.
