The first born child of a novelist and a documentary editor, “Skyscraper” Stan Woodhouse was raised with an innate appreciation for language. Originally classing himself as a country musician, Skyscraper Stans’ earlier influences included pre-war blues, the Laurel Canyon songwriters, Nick Cave and Sam Cooke. Since arriving in Australia in 2009 The Drones, Peep Tempel and Paul Kelly among others have been added to the list.
Just before COVID hit, Stan Moved to Ballarat and spent the lockdowns honing his craft with longtime collaborator and some say his favourite cousin Oskar Herbig and the new addition of Sam Boon (Sasquatch) who is bringing a saxyness to the scrapers new sound. Together they have been electrifying venues big and small across Victoria and NSW with tunes new and old that cater to all dancefloor enthusiasts.
His debut album “Last Year’s Tune” was released in March 2015 under the “Skyscraper Stan and the Commission Flats” moniker and his sophomore album “Golden Boy (Vol I. & II.)” was released in June 2019. Stan is currently working on his 3rd studio album which is set for release in late 2023.
