Former Forte Magazine office neighbour and Newtown coffee nest, Newfolk is on the market.
Nestled into the Newtown suburban scene of Skene Street, neighbourhood local coffee house, Newfolk has been a favourite local hotspot for morning coffees, brunch and local produce. Now after six years as a resident and beloved brew friend to the community, Newfolk has been listed for sale.
Listed through Seek Business, the entire business including a current lease transfer with an option for another five year term is open for a fresh owner to take on. Posted to social media this morning, Tuesday 15 October, the team offer their reasons for the sale.

“Time for a big announcement. Newfolk is for sale” the statement posted to Facebook started.
“This is not a decision I have come to lightly, but after nearly six years at the helm of this fantastic shop, the time has come to hand over the reigns to someone new. I’ve loved every second of running this shop and getting to know each and everyone of my guests that have walked through the doors and I’ll miss seeing you all every day or week or month or whenever you come in! But I am beyond excited to see what is next for me and have a bit of a change of pace.”
It closes with a sales call to action of “Please submit any enquiries to me through Seek.”
From transforming the old Butcher’s building into a humble hangout for the hungry locals, Newfolk quickly became a favourite thanks to their immediate dedication to the local community from owner Harry Adamson who not only knew everyone on the blocks names within their first week of trading but also their regular coffee order. With the goodwill of those ongoing customers across the last six years, Newfolk is positioned as an attractive sales purchase.

Located in one of Geelong’s most affluent areas in close proximity to schools for footpath traffic, Newfolk found their groove as a go-to for dine in lunches, grab and go orders, coffee and also drinks, doubling as a bar. It’s quirky and unique setting made it a gem in Geelong’s west.
Whilst sad to see Adamson leave, the cafe will surely continue to thrive under new ownership.
