Marking their third Victorian show for 2022, Skegss will take to the Torquay Hotel this September for a rare pub gig.
Skegss, our favourite surf/garage rock trio from Byron Bay, is heading to regional Victoria this year for one very special show at the Torquay Hotel in October.
In what will be just their third Victorian show for the year, following sold-out gigs at The Forum back in January, Skegss will take to the beloved hotel on Friday, September 2, following their New Zealand tour in August and ahead of their UK tour in October.

Kicking around for a while now, Skeggs has made a name for themselves with energetic live performances, garnering praise over the years for their infectious on-stage chemistry and hypnotic effect on their fans. With three albums under their belt, as well as a Triple J live album, and multiple No. 1 singles on the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) charts, they have built a large following that doesn’t seem to let up.
In March last year, Skegss dropped ‘Rehearsal‘, a 13-track thrill ride — from the playful romp of ‘Valhalla’ and the intoxicating narrative of ‘Running from Nothing’, to the sparse beauty of Reed’s acoustic ballad ‘Wake Up’, Rehearsal encapsulates Skegss’ sound: nostalgic riffs, tight hooks, and masterful storytelling.
The album was recorded at The Grove Studios with Grammy-award winning producer Catherine Marks (Foals, Wolf Alice, The Wombats), who added a veteran’s finesse and expanded upon the rustic charm of demos the band tracked at The Music Farm using vintage gear from the ‘60s and ‘70s. From Reed’s self-made lyrical philosophies inspired by his favorite stand-up comedians to Toby Cregan’s reflections on life and his dog, Rehearsal is the most candid and electrifying snapshot we’ve seen of Skegss yet.
Rehearsal follows the meteoric DIY success of a few self-released singles/EPs (now certified Platinum in AUS) and Skegss’ 2018 debut LP My Own Mess, which snagged #2 on the ARIA Charts and was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 ARIA Awards. The new album also features Hottest 100 voted singles ‘Under the Thunder’ (#27) and ‘Fantasising’ (#66).
Performing a very rare pub gig this September, the last time Skegss performed at Torquay Hotel was Easter 2018. They performed in what is now the restaurant on a makeshift stage, while the entire restaurant was temporarily moved into the beer garden under a marquee.
This gig is remembered as one of the wildest shows ever held at Torquay Hotel, arguably second to Australian Crawl’s 1984 Easter show (Australian Crawl were the major sponsor of the RIP CURL PRO that year. The riot police were called during their performance. You can check this out on Boys Light Up filmclip HERE).
After four long years Skegss return for a special one-off show with a swag of new anthems and their friends Stimpies and local favourites Good Sniff.
