Naarm-based Aboriginal sibling rock duo Agnes Blue launched into 2020 with their single ‘Invisible Man out today exclusively via Bandcamp, marking the first taste of new music since their 2018 single ‘Wasted’.
Hailing from Murukutchi (Maroochydore), the duo have earned a solid reputation for bringing colourful narratives to life over the past few years, performing at festivals around the country including Australia’s largest blues festival, Byron Bay’s Bluesfest, Wintermoon Festival and Mitchell Creek Rock and Blues Fest.
Clocking in at just over four minutes, this new release is a testament to the growth of guitarist and vocalist Jack Blanford and drummer Frea Blandford, championed by a mountain of riffs, booming percussion and alluring vocals.
Recorded and mixed with legendary Sunshine Coast producer and engineer, Brian Goodworth at Big Rock Studios in Coolum Beach, spacious melodies are front and centre on the single, as the duo unpack the heartache and the confusion that comes with never quite getting to know someone the way you wished you could, penned by Frea and signifying her song-writing debut.
While the single was originally intended to mark the pair’s return to the stage after taking some time off performing live, due to COVID-19 putting touring plans on hold, Agnes Blue are instead using their new track to support two important charities in the current health crisis, donating all proceeds to Support Act and Victorian Aboriginal Health Service.
