Shimmerlands reveals two-month outdoor cinema lineup

Following on from Shimmerlands’ initial announce, revealing a set from Parquet Courts in the process, the multifaceted summer festival has now unveiled their two-month cinema programme.

Tying in well with their hotly anticipated music lineup, Shimmerlands boasts a tightly curated selection of music focused films including the Australian premiere of The Rolling Stones Ole, Ole Ole!: A Trip Across Latin America, the new Nick Cave documentary One More Time With Feeling, and Our Vinyl Weighs a Ton – detailing the seminal hip hop label Stones Throw Records as they celebrate their 20th anniversary this year.

Further highlights include Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals, Andrea Arnold’s American Honey, and major Oscar contender La La Land featuring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

Shimmerlands will also be screening some new-release favourites including Dr Strange and Ghostbusters.

“One of the best things you can do in the Melbourne summer time has to be seeing your favourite films at an outdoor cinema,” said season programmer Lauren Valmadre. “I’ve been able to bring my passion for film, in particular indies, music docos and Australian films into this dynamic film programme, which hopefully has a little something for everyone.”

Shimmerlands will screen over 45 films within the University of Melbourne, as well as hosting live music and outdoor dining, from Sunday January 1 – Sunday February 26.
