Date night, friends’ drinks, end-of-week debrief – your new favourite location for a Friday night has just dropped at Shepparton Art Museum.
SAM has announced the opening of the bar on Level 4 of the museum, set to launch next Friday, 28 March.
In partnership with Elsewhere at SAM, Bar SAM will provide a unique space for visitors to relax, enjoy drinks, and unwind while taking in breathtaking views over Lake Victoria.

Bar SAM will be open to the public on select Friday evenings throughout 2025, offering a relaxed, after-hours atmosphere to complement Shepparton’s vibrant hospitality scene. The first opening will kick off at 5:30 pm on March 28, and it promises to be a fantastic way to enjoy the weekend, with drinks and a light food menu available to accompany your evening.
With no entry fee and a strictly 18+ age limit, Bar SAM is designed to be an inclusive, easy-going space for all to enjoy. There’s no need to book in advance—patrons are welcome to simply walk in and take a seat, either inside or outside on the terrace. This relaxed setup invites visitors to drop by, sip on a cocktail, and experience a whole new side of the museum.
The space itself, designed by the renowned architectural firm Denton Corker Marshall, features an elevated interior that reflects Shepparton’s stunning landscape.
Gabriella Calandro, SAM’s Head of Engagement said the regular opening of SAM’s Level 4 bar to the public has been highly anticipated since 2021.
“We’re excited to give people a new experience to enjoy as part of our region’s hospitality scene. Bar SAM offers a new way of engaging with the museum, and we are excited to team up with our friends, Elsewhere at SAM, to make this a great after-hours museum experience,” she said.
