Saint Ignatius College are taking over Costa Hall in their production of ‘Wicked’

Words by Alice Ruby McDonald

Students have been seeing life through emerald glasses.

After sold-out productions of School of Rock, Beauty and the Beast and Hairspray in 2019, Saint Ignatius College is full of talented kids ready to shine in this year’s production of Wicked.

At the Geelong Arts Centre, Saint Ignatius College is proud to present a full orchestra, spectacular sets and costumes and a cast full of young budding actors and performers.

Pictured in the header are the two leading ladies Parish Walsh (blonde student) and Zoe Walter (green student). These two have shown significant talent and are more than excited to hit the stage at the beautiful Geelong Arts Centre on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th December for a 7:30pm show.

Based on the novel by Gregory Maquire, the performance will feature orchestrations by William David Brohn and music arrangements by Alex Lacamoire and Stephen Oremus.

Now for anyone who needs a catch-up, surely you’ve all belted out Defying Gravity at least once?? Wicked is the story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students at Shiz University: the blonde and very popular Glinda and a misunderstood green girl named Elphaba. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will test their friendship to the limit and ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. It’s basically the prequel to The Wicked of Oz.

Awe-inspiring and spectacular, this gravity-defying show has been playing on Broadway since 2003 and recently completed a seven-year continuous run throughout Australasia. It’s a Broadway cult classic.

So why not make this yet another sold out production for these students by purchasing your tickets here.
