A few years ago, songman Russell Morris embarked on a musical journey that would end up spawning three albums that pertain to moments and characters of Australia’s history. Sharkmouth was the first of these.
Mostly based around the depression years and the urban back blocks, the album would become the highest-selling Australian release of 2013. Van Diemen’s Land followed, focusing on events including the First and Second World Wars, the beginning of penal settlement and union strikes.
The third and final in the series is Red Dirt – Red Heart, an album with an underlying story regarding Indigenous Australians and life in Central Australia. Suttons, Ballarat – March 18.
