Cupcakes for a cute cause: Cupcake Day takes over Geelong and Bendigo to support the care of cats and dogs
This September, RSPCA’s sweetest annual event, Cupcake Day is returning for its 16th year and RSPCA Victoria is inviting animal lovers in both the Bendigo and Geelong community to join them to Host, Share, Care this September!
Supporters across Victoria can get together, share great food and raise money to help provide love, care, shelter and warmth to animals in need!

Cupcake Day is the perfect excuse to get coworkers, friends, schools and families together while making a huge difference to the lives of animals in Victoria. By hosting a Cupcake Day event at home, school, or work, supporters can help raise funds to support the RSPCA. The premise is as simple as morning tea where you can bake or bring cupcakes or any delicious baked treat to be shared, with a donation offered to participate in the fun-part of consumption! For those wanting to raise the stakes, maybe a bake-off could take place with the highest fundraising team the winner, or simply have a casual dress day with a gold coin donation to be involved.
Whilst the dedicated day is Monday 16 September, you can host your special fundraising event any time throughout September. The aim is to raise much needed funs for the animals cared for by the RSPCA. Donations through RSPCA Cupcake Day make a difference with fundraising covering the following items:
- $36 gives heat pads, blankets and bedding to keep a puppy snuggly this winter
- $57 provides the life-saving milk needed to bottle feed a litter of abandoned kittens
- $91 helps our team transport animals, increasing their chances of finding their forever family
- $118 helps our expert surgeons desex a kitten, so they’re ready to find a loving home
RSPCA Victoria Events Manager Kate Kasby said over 8,500 animals in Victoria turned to the RSPCA for help last year, and this event offers a sweet way to support them.
“Cupcake Day is a wonderful way for everyone to connect with their community while making a real difference to support animals in need,” said Ms Kasby.
“All funds raised go directly to our vital work in rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals across Victoria.
“Your participation means the world to us and, more importantly, to the animals we care for,”
“Your Cupcake Day can be held any time in September, so pick a date that works for you and gather your friends, dust off nanna’s recipes, and get ready to host the sweetest party this year to support all creatures great and small!”
To assist hosts in making their events a success, the RSPCA provides everything needed to make planning and promoting the event easy and enjoyable, including welcome party packs, images for social media, a hosting guide, decorations, and posters.
