Rock’n’roll music festival Do The Pop returns to Port Campbell with massive lineup: The Meanies, Bob Log III and more

Words by Staff Writer

Do The Pop is back bringing a two-day rock n roll music festival to the Port Campbell Hotel this April.

The colourful and lively seaside village of Port Campbell is set to pulse with rock ‘n’ roll vibes as the Do The Pop festival returns for its second edition, taking over the Port Campbell Hotel from Saturday, April 20, to Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Curated by the members of Melbourne’s own Grindhouse, this festival, paying homage to the 1978 single from Radio Birdman, promises to transform the humble Great Ocean Road town into a high-octane hub for Australian independent rock ‘n’ roll enthusiasts.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

The festival boasts a killer lineup of over 30 bands, spread across two stages, creating a rock ‘n’ roll spectacle under the open sky. Giddy up, brothers and sisters, as the first lineup drop delivers a taste of what’s to come. Two days of stunning independent rock ‘n’ roll await on the 20th and 21st of April 2024.

The Meanies, Melbourne’s punk rock legends, lead the charge. With a reputation as one of Australia’s premier underground rock acts, The Meanies have unleashed their raucous live shows since the ’90s. Albums like “Come ‘n’ See” (1992), “Televolution” (1994), and “10% Weird” (1998) have left an indelible mark on Melbourne’s underground scene.

Joining the ranks is the eccentric Bob Log III, an American slide guitar one-man band known for his unconventional performances. Dressed in a full-body human cannonball suit and a helmet wired to a telephone receiver, Bob Log III delivers a unique blend of guitar and drums, captivating audiences on both sides of the Pacific.

Alongside the headliners, rounding out the monumental beast that is the Do The Pop lineup includes festival organisers themselves Grindhouse, Dr Sures Unusual Practice, The Maggie Pills, Hot Machine, Melt, Stepmother, The Unknowns, Willie J and the Books, and heaps more, with even more to be announced.
