Maningrida’s Ripple Effect Band share their touching debut album, Mayawa, out now. To celebrate, the band announce their forthcoming tour of NSW, ACT and Victoria, igniting stages across 11 stops this November.
The nine-piece band, Ripple Effect Band, will kick things off in Sydney, heading to Giiyong Festival, followed by Ulladulla, Canberra, Wangaratta, Brunswick to play Live from RRR, Castlemaine, Main Ridge, Melbourne and wrapping up at Geelong’s Murran First Nations Hub.

Mayawa is more than just a collection of songs, it is a celebration of Ripple Effect Band’s stories as mothers, daughters and sisters, sung in the languages of their people. Each track resonates with the echoes of traditional ceremonies, capturing the raw beauty of their heritage and the dynamic pulse of their present. On this record, Ripple Effect Band invite listeners on a journey through time and space, where every note and lyric is a bridge connecting past and future generations.
Ripple Effect Band have garnered widespread acclaim for their work forging new ground and sound. The album’s previous singles, “Na-kalamandjarda”, “Loving and Caring” and “Waláya” have seen acclaim from Double J, ABC Radio National, FBi Radio, The Music and more. They were finalists for the 2023 Australian Women in Music Awards’ Diversity in Music Award, and most recently, drummer Jolene Lawrence has also been honoured as a finalist for the APRA Professional Development Awards. This July, Ripple Effect Band were named as one of the bands to work alongside music pathway program Bush Music Fund, an initiative providing long term support to First Nations musicians from remote regions.
