Regurgitator change Geelong venue for their ‘it’s so invasive…tour’

Words by Staff Writer

Originally booked to play Lambys Tavern on Thursday 16 May, Regurgitator will be stepping into Geelong's home of rock 'n' roll, The Barwon Club Hotel.

30 years, 10 albums with the new one dropping today, Regurgitator are invading the music sphere once more. Out today, Invader is a self-produced work predominantly recorded and mixed by Quan Yeoman and Ben Ely with the assistance of Greg Jard. Leaning into the Brisbane-boys infectious, high-octane power puff of pop-meets-rock-meets-electronic plays, Invader includes collaboration with Peaches, JK47 and Tyson Yunkaporta (Sand Talk), fizzing with fun funky freedom.

The album drop comes with the announcement of a venue change for their upcoming Geelong show, moving from iconic underground nightclub Lambys Tavern to the house of rock ‘n’ roll, the Barwon Club.

Leading in with ‘This Is Not A Pop Song’ featuring Peaches, followed by the killer opening track ‘Cocaine Runaway’, Invader sees a return of form from Regurgitator, swirling with kaleidoscopic synths and building a sense of nostalgia. Coming in nearly 30 years after their debut Tu-Plang and their celebrated sophomore Unit, the album sits impeccably in the playful pen that Regurgitator have created and is set to be Ben Hur big live.

Kicking off down south in Hobart on Friday 10 May, and wrapping up in Australia’s north at Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns on Saturday 22 June, the ‘it’s so invasive…tour’ slides into a whopping 23 towns and cities. The tour will introduce the world to new Regurgitator flesh, touring member Sarah Lim who will slay on keytar and guitar. Along for the ride are good friends, The Party Dozen and Displeasure (NZ).

Tickets still remain for the Geelong show and can be purchased here. Give Invader a listen now.
