Start your Saturday right this summer by sipping, savouring and strolling from location to location amongst wine-loving friends.
The much-loved APCO Foundation Geelong Wine Walk event is locked in for 2021 and will see the streets, laneways and footpaths of Geelong CBD come alive as a hand-picked selection of Geelong’s best waterfront venues open their doors, transforming into the ultimate cellar door experience.
Going down on Saturday 13 February, the event will see attendees visit The Sky Wheel, The Geelong Yacht Club, Fisherman’s Pier, The Hygiea, The Wharf Shed, Sailor’s Rest and Geelong Boat House for a fresh, self-guided wine tasting experience. The participating wineries will be announced shortly, ensuring this will be an afternoon out that you and your friends won’t want to miss.
While it wasn’t looking good for the 2021 event to proceed for a while there, the APCO Foundation is confident they can deliver a safe and enjoyable event whilst adhering to strict COVID-19 protocols.
“The Geelong Wine Walk is not only a fantastic day out, but it will also enable the Foundation to raise some much-needed funds and will allow us to continue to support those in our community who need it most,” says APCO Foundation Chair Sharon Gleeson.
“The Geelong Wine Walk is such a popular event and given that there has been a real lack of this type of outing we expect tickets to sell out quicker than event. We are looking forward to once again showcasing some of Geelong’s incredible waterfront venues as well as a range of fantastic wineries, distilleries and breweries.”
While seven premier venues will open their doors and showcase some of Victoria’s finest wineries and food, the best part is that it’s not just for wine lovers – you can spend your day sipping on whisky and gin from different distilleries across the region or even opt for a beer or cider, the choice is yours!
So how does it all work? Simply, you choose the starting point, then gather your friends and walk to the other venues from there. At your starting point, you will be given a wristband that will give you access to all seven venues, alongside your own Geelong Wine Walk tote bag with wine glass, event booklet (including map), pen and bottle of water.
Not only does buying a ticket get you entry to all seven gorgeous venues to explore, substantial canapes at each venue, live music, and tasting for all wineries, distilleries and breweries involved, but all profits go to the APCO Foundation. From here, all money raised goes to the APCO communities to families and projects that need support.
What better way to start your weekend (and 2021) than with a walk – and one which involves wine. Gather your friends for this self-guided tasting tour and help raise money for the people who need it most.
Tickets are now on sale for the APCO Foundation Geelong Wine Walk which will be held on Saturday 13 February, 2021 from 11am to 5pm. You can find tickets here.
