Queenscliff’s legendary Blues Train has hit the market for the first time ever

For the first time in its 29 year history, The Blues Train is looking for a new owner to take on the iconic business.

An integral part of the Queenscliff Tourism and Victorian Music Industries for the past 29 years, Queenscliff’s legendary Blues Train is on the market for the first time in its history.

Providing a unique way to enjoy live music on the Bellarine, expressions of interest are open for a passionate human to take over The Blues Train – an experience that combines four carefully selected Australian Blues acts, a Bellarine Railway heritage train, dinner and drinks for 200 patrons running Saturday nights eight months of the year.

With the strong foundations already in place and a reputation as one of Australia’s most unique experiences, founder Hugo T Armstrong is ready to pass the baton, providing the ideal opportunity to someone with a passion for hospitality, tourism, or the entertainment industry.

Hailed as Australia’s longest-running blues music venue, the business offers a genuine work-life balance, operating from October to May, welcoming 7,000+ patrons annually, and selling out shows months in advance. And for those with ambition, there’s ample opportunity to expand the calendar of events or introduce a complementary annual event.

Having survived two global financial crises and two waves of the Covid pandemic (which was a death knell for many in the entertainment industry), The Blues Train has consistently bounced back and is has already achieved pre-covid pandemic levels.

It sure is a catch!

We’re not the only ones who think so either. The Teskey Brothers, C W Stoneking, Dallas Frasca and Ash Grunwald are just some of the big names that started their careers ridin’ the rails, while Australian Blues legends Jimi Hocking, Geoff Achison, Lloyd Spiegel and the late Chris Wilson have all been an integral part of the Blues Train history. The list of names of other artists who have performed over the years goes on for miles, with new blues artists like The Ethan Farmer band creating a new generation of Blues Train fans.
