Queenscliff Music Festival unveil first artist announcement including Xavier Rudd, Marlon Williams and Kasey Chambers

Words by Staff Writer

Having announced the exclusive Victorian appearance of soul-rock group Michael Franti & Spearhead last month, the beloved Bellarine music festival surprises with first lineup announcement.

Coming in hot for another year, this time under new leadership as decade-long Director Andrew Orvis stepped down in March, Queenscliff Music Festival is proving it is not slowing down with the release of its first artist lineup announcement.

In addition to Michael Franti & Spearhead, the 2024 Queenscliff Music Festival will see performances from Bob Log III, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Fools, Grace Cummings, Jack Botts, Kasey Chambers, Marlon Williams, Queenie, Rob Edwards, The Bures Band, The Meltdown, The Stamps, Xavier Rudd and The Wiggles Sound System featuring DJ Dorothy.

The announcement comes days after Xavier Rudd announced his Freedom Sessions Australian tour with an appearance at Live At The Gardens. The Queenscliff Music Festival appearance will be sure to include tracks from the Freedom Sessions EP, along with tracks from his two decade long career.

New Zealand crooner, Marlon Williams is not a surprise addition to the lineup, with his appearance coinciding with his already sold-out intimate performances in Anglesea for The Sound Doctor. It’s a chance for those who missed out on tickets to see the ‘After The Revolution’ and ‘What’s Chasing You’ singer-songwriter in his element.

Country darling Kasey Chambers is no stranger to the Queenscliff Music Festival stage having performed in 2018 alongside Sarah Blasko and Courtney Barnett and The Whitlams. She will be bringing her huge voice and incredible repertoire to the stage. Additionally Cash Savage & The Last Drinks is a returning favourite who is set to leave a stamp on audiences.

FOOLS is another stellar addition to the lineup. 12-piece musical family, FOOLS is fast becoming one of Australia’s leading forces in the contemporary roots genre, infused with soul, Americana, and rock. Led by the voice and songwriting of Luke O’Connor, FOOLS’ rise to prominence has been marked by electrifying performances across the country, a nomination for Best Live Blues and Roots Act at the 2023 National Live Music Awards, and dedication for debut album Can’t Wait Any Longer.

The festival is also a chance to see some talented scene exploders including Grace Cummings and Jack Botts, both of whom have forged strong foundations for their careers in the past couple of years. Cummings has just released her third studio album RAMONA with the help of Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Angel Olsen) at his Topanga Canyon studio which has received significant recognition and acclaim, whilst Botts has built a global fanbase racking up over 100 million streams and playing over 140 headline shows since his debut 2023 album Sucker For Sunsets.

For the kids, The Wiggles Sound System featuring DJ Dorothy will be a highlight of the festival. The classics ‘Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car’, ‘Fruit Salad’ and ‘Hot Potato’ will be on the decks for the ultimate party playlist.

With a strong reputation as a community family-friendly festival set in a stunning historic township, Queenscliff Music Festival is a beachside favourite on the yearly calendar with tickets set to sell out quickly.

Whether you’re enjoying some great music on the festival lawn, sipping on a bevvy at The Hippos Stage, watching the sunset over the iconic Lighthouse Stage or just soaking up the fantastic Queenscliff vibe, the ambience of the festival will make it feel like the world is your oyster. With more artist announcements to come, this year is going to be one exciting festival!

Early Bird tickets for Queenscliff Music Festival are still on sale for a couple of weeks so buy now to snap up a saving. The festival is also offering Zip Pay for punters who want to pay off their tickets across the year.
