Punk royalty returns: Sex Pistols and Frank Carter unite for an Australian tour this April

words by staff writer

Bollocks abound on Aussie land come April – Sex Pistols are back in town.

In a move that’s got the punk scene absolutely frothing, the Sex Pistols have announced they’re finally dragging their anarchic circus back to Australian shores after a three-decade absence – and they’re bringing modern-day punk powerhouse Frank Carter along for the riot.

Following their earth-shattering Bush Hall gigs in London last August, original members Paul Cook, Steve Jones, and Glen Matlock are teaming up with the former Gallows frontman to deliver Never Mind The Bollocks in its entirety across Australia and New Zealand this April.

Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter

  • Sat 5 April – Festival Hall, Melbourne
  • Sun 6 April – Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide
  • Tue 8 April – Hordern Pavilion, Sydney
  • Wed 9 April – Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane
  • Fri 11 April – Fremantle Prison, Fremantle

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

The unexpected collab first erupted at a fundraising series for West London’s Bush Hall, where Carter proved himself the perfect spiritual successor to the Pistols’ legacy. The Guardian hailed it as “rip-roaring punk rock redux,” while Kerrang! celebrated the band “regaining its liberty.”

Kicking off at Auckland Town Hall on April 2, the mayhem will spread through Christchurch before laying waste to Australia’s east coast, hitting Melbourne’s Festival Hall, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, and Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall. The carnage concludes with what promises to be an absolutely mental show within the haunting walls of Fremantle Prison on April 11.

For those gagging to secure tickets, partner presales kick off January 21 at 11am, followed by My Live Nation members getting their shot from January 22. The unwashed masses can dive in from January 23 at noon (all times local).

The reunion has already left UK crowds and critics proper gobsmacked, with CLASH declaring “Sex Pistols are fuckin’ back” and the Evening Standard painting scenes of “unadulterated punk rock mayhem.” With Carter’s raw energy colliding with the Pistols’ legendary catalogue, this tour isn’t just a nostalgia trip – it’s a fresh injection of venom into punk’s beating heart.

Catch this historic collision of punk past and present before it burns everything to the ground.
