PREMIERE: Ironess make their debut with dreamy pop ballad ‘Drive’

From the rugged hills of New Zealand and the shores of Melbourne comes the fresh-faced addictive indie-pop duo Ironess with their debut single ‘Drive’, which is scheduled to drop tomorrow, Friday June 12.

Combining the talents of celebrated Bayside indie artists Kezra and Issac Main, ‘Drive’ stirs the sonic melting pot of alternative pop, 80s beats, folky guitar riffs and infatuating vocal hooks.

Boasting stunning acoustic tones immersing you deep into a pool of captivating story-telling, transcendent harmonies and heart accelerating bass lines, ‘Drive’ captures you right from the start, championed by lush synths and the alluring braided vocal melodies of the two artists – Issac’s soulful, sweeping tones and Kezra’s hypnotic, breathy vocals. With nods to a young Angus and Julia Stone with a modern electro flair and a clear knack for an instantly engaging melody, this track is three minutes and 47 seconds of pure bliss.

“Drive was originally written as a folk song but when we went into the studio it became an electro-pop song. The sound is new for us but it feels so right,” the duo explain.

Woven together nearly with smooth production from Mark D’Angelo (Fergus James, D’arcy Spiller), ‘Drive’ channels the raw energy of frustration and despair felt by creatives into a melody about taking control and giving your all.

“Drive is a song probably every musician can relate to,” Kezra reveals. “It’s about doubting yourself and trying to take back control of the emotions you’re feeling when you’re in this constant cycle of creating art, trying to figure out if you’re on the right track and just going for it.

“One day I was feeling down and questioning where I was in my world and Issac said, well let’s write a bloody song about it.”

As two solo artists with individual masterful storytelling abilities and polished, soulful tones, their blended talents and dynamic vision present a hopeful new chapter and we are betting Ironess will be pulsating their defiant heartbeat in the Australian music scene for years to come.
