After a decade away, Moody’s returning to her roots, hitting the road for her first Aussie tour since 2015.

Best known as a founding member of the Grammy-nominated, Juno Award-winning folk trio The Wailin’ Jennys, Ruth Moody’s been making music for years that has touched hearts across the globe.

The shows promise to be an emotional ride as Moody shares the deeply personal stories and songs from Wanderer, a record that took shape over a decade of life changes, including taking a break from touring to raise her son.

Reflecting on the album’s journey, Moody says “In a sense, the album is a chronicle of my journey over the last ten years.”

“It wasn’t necessarily intended that way; I took a pause from touring to start a family and raise my son. The songs kept coming, and I kept having to put them on the back burner. But I think it was all meant to be that way. Taking that time, becoming a mother, and the experience of making this record have given me a heightened sense of gratitude, and have made me more passionate than ever for art and for doing whatever I can to help spread some joy and peace in the world.”

The album, recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium and co-produced by Moody and Dan Knobler (Allison Russell, Lake Street Dive), is a rich tapestry of emotions, blending lush harmonies, haunting pedal steel, and Ruth’s signature poetic lyrics. It’s a journey through the highs and lows of life, love, and motherhood. Whether it’s the restless energy of ‘Seventeen’—a raw, real tale of unrequited love and an ode to her hometown of Winnipeg—or the tender, heartfelt duet ‘The Spell of the Lilac Bloom’ with Canadian roots star Joey Landreth, Wanderer is about the human experience in all its messy, beautiful complexity.

This album is a testament to Moody’s artistic growth and maturity—showing off her impeccable instincts and a deeper understanding of herself and the world around her. Moody’s sound has evolved, but her ability to connect with her listeners through vulnerability and heart remains unchanged. It’s clear; this album is one of her finest.

Fans in Australia are in for a treat as Moody brings Wanderer to life in an intimate, raw, and personal way.

If you’ve missed her on stage, or you’ve never had the chance to see her perform live, don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience her magic up close.
