Future Folk at Port Fairy Folk Festival is back in 2024, supporting and celebrating young emerging artists from South West Victoria aged between 12 to 25.
Port Fairy Folk Festival has introduced music lovers to the artistry of Evie Dalton, Ruby McKenna, Andrei O’Connor, Lucy Lorenne & The Early Birds, Out of Hand, Zoe Borthwick and more since the program was first introduced in 2022.
Port Fairy Folk Festival invites young singers and songwriters from the South West Victoria region to apply for the 2024 Future Folk program and share the stage with established artists from around the world.

Ten local emerging artists will be selected for Future Folk and will take part in career-enhancing one-on-one and group mentoring sessions with renowned artists.
Port Fairy Folk Festival Program Director Justin Rudge said the Future Folk program was an important addition to the overall event where musicians can showcase their work at Fiddlers Green and across various stages in the Festival arena.
“The Folkie is an opportunity for music lovers to experience extraordinary musicians from around the world. We are honoured to play a part in developing the careers of local artists and to share their music with our loyal Port Fairy Folk Festival community and the artists who come to our seaside event every year.
“We encourage singers and songwriters from South West Victoria to share their music with us and be a part of this magical moment at the 2024 Port Fairy Folk Festival,” said Justin.
The Port Fairy Folk Festival is ready for another year of vibrant music, bringing thousands of music fans to its seaside destination of Port Fairy over the March long-weekend. The long-running popular event recently announced its first artist line-up for 2024 which includes a spectacular array of artists from America, Europe and Australia.
The Future Folk program is supported by Moyne Shire Council through the Victorian Government’s FReeZA program.
Mayor Cr Karen Foster said the Future Folk program is a great initiative to support young artists from the Moyne Shire.
“Playing on stage at the region’s biggest celebration of music and the arts is a dream many young musicians have and thanks to this fantastic program it can become a reality.
“Council is so pleased to be able to partner with the Port Fairy Folk Festival to offer this opportunity and I am looking forward to seeing the some of our best up and coming artists take to the stage in the folkie arena next year.”
