Since first emerging into the music scene as Celia Pavey, a contestant on The Voice Australia in 2013, Vera Blue has gone from strength to strength in the last decade, transforming from a gifted folk singer/songwriter into the electro-pop powerhouse she is today. It began with the release of her heartbreaking yet artistically progressive, rapturously received debut album ‘Perennial’, which spawned the release of the anthem ‘Lady Powers’, ‘Regular Touch’ and ‘Mended’ and saw Vera play five completely sold out Australian tours, European/UK and USA dates, and multiple festivals including Lollapalooza and Splendour in the Grass.

Consistently capturing the hearts of music lovers, her latest single – the infectious pop anthem ‘Lie to Me’ – was released back in October and marked her first original material in over a year. Having released the aforementioned Perennial back in 2017, fans have been eagerly awaiting news of a new record with the songstress having only released a handful of singles and a live record since her appearance on Flume’s Gold-accredited single, ‘Rushing Back’ in 2019.

With a sound so intricate and elegant, Vera’s gorgeous melodies, outstanding ethereal vocals and moody electronica will be an experience like none other when paired with the talented musicians from the MSO and the grand acoustics of Hamer Hall for these shows next month.

Conducted by Vanessa Scammell, this special event will begin with a celebration of female composers with a series of short works by Deborah Cheetham AO, Anna Clyne, Ela Macens, Dobrinka Tabakova, Missy Mazzoli and Holly Harrison. Vera Blue will then join the MSO performing her favourite works and chart-topping songs celebrating each other, celebrating those that have come before and inspiring those to come.

“To be sharing the stage with the magical MSO is so special and I cannot wait for everyone to see this show, to hear and feel my songs performed in a unique way,” Vera Blue said in a statement.

“It’s going to be so different to any other show I’ve done before and I am excited to showcase other aspects of who I am as an artist and to allow my music to be heard in a different light.”

Always a pleasure live on stage, you must not miss this.
