A chicken shop like no other.

Before fried chicken took Geelong by storm, there was charcoal chicken and a bunch of places dedicated to a nicely charred bit of chook and a side of chicken-salt chips.

They’re still around, of course, but now there’s a whole new breed to shops dedicated to free-range and/or organic chicken cooked low and slow, with great attention to detail.

Spawned from plenty of passion, Geelong just scored a funky new rotisserie in Pollo Rotisserie 3218 –  a new space dedicated to pumping out hearty rotisserie meals that just hit the spot.

Taking over a quaint shop on Pakington Street, previously the home to Pako Meats, Pollo Rotisserie opened this week, gifting Geelong West a chicken shop like no other.

Sitting amongst good company next to Geelong Fresh Foods, this exciting new small family business has been in the works for more than a year now with a vision to bring the best quality Gourmet takeaway food to the community.

So what can you expect?

Featuring a French rotisserie, European char-grill, Marble Carvery, a three-metre fresh salad bar, a three-metre gourmet hot food bar and an indoor glass “marinating room” all within a clean, modern space, Pollo Rotisserie is your new-go to for some of the best, fresh, hot, juicy free range rotisserie chicken. You’ll soon see.

Roasting free range and organic Tasmanian chooks (marinated for 24 hours in house), take your pick from a quarter, half or whole chook to takeaway. Expect these babies to be moist and tender with concentrated flavour, especially with the team behind Pollo spending the last 12 months researching poultry farms around Australia to ensure they were sourcing the best tasting chooks available.

If you chargrilled chicken is more your style, indulge in chargrilled butterflied whole chicken marinated in Mediterranean flavours, chargrilled pollo skewer (AKA kebab) or opt for the chargrilled corn ribs, which is chargrilled corn sliced into ribs with garlic butter, Harissa mayonnaise and parmesan. Oh yes.

Pair your bird with some delicious sides like rustic potato chips, seasoned brown rice, pita bread or house made gravy and you’re set for a full-flavoured feast to take home and enjoy. If that still wasn’t enough there’s also the hot food bar which boasts all the good stuff: truffle mac n cheese, broccoli and cauliflower cheese bake, scallop potatoes, honey glazed carrots and parsnips, Kipfler potatoes, chargrilled pumpkin and fioretto crumbed cauliflower. Sunday roast anyone?

Over in the salad bar you’ll find ancient grains salad, pulled chicken pasta salad, chargrilled pumpkin and pear cous cous, and apple and balsamic slaw, among other mouthwatering options.

With multiple meal options, you can simply build your meal exactly how you want it – and it only takes a few minutes.

They also do epic pollo gravy rolls for lunch. Think foot long French baguette loaded with Tasmanian pulled chicken and chefs overnight gravy. Plus, rotating specials.

And for dessert, there’s Pollo chocolate mousse layered with Italian ganache, fresh lemon curd and white chocolate mousse, Australian pistachio and white chocolate mousse and traditional Italian tiramisu. Delicious.

They weren’t wrong: This really is a chicken shop like no other in Geelong west.
