Once known as the pinnacle of the local live music scene back in the day, The Wool Exchange Entertainment Complex has taken its first step in returning to its former glory once more with its first gig announcement in almost 14 months.
Coming out guns blazing, the Woolie (as it is affectionately known) will be hosting Sydney metalcore outfit Polaris for the very first show on their regional Vagabond Tour in June.

Absolutely huge news for both metal fans and those of the local live music industry, with the venue having had its doors since March last year.
As for Polaris, in the space of a few years, the Sydney five-piece have gone from selling 100 tickets to headlining venues like the Forum; and they are no longer finding themselves down the bottom of festival lineups, but instead as headliners of festivals such as UNIFY Gathering, Victoria’s annual heavy music festival, alongside huge international acts such as The Ghost Inside and previous tour mates Architects.
The band truly came into their own with the release of The Death Of Me in February last year, the follow up to their ARIA-nominated, Top 10 debut, The Mortal Coil (2018). Becoming an ARIA Nominated and #3 ARIA Album Chart debut record, the band, unfortunately, were unable to tour the album, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Now after 16 months off the road, they are officially back and taking their latest music around the country with their Vagabond Tour, seeing the band tour around regional spots on the east coast throughout June with special guests, Deadlights.
Drummer Daniel Furnari said in a special statement, “It’s turned out to be kind of ironic that the lyrics of ‘Vagabond’ mention this idea that “nowhere feels like home”, which was originally a reference to constantly being on the move when we were touring… but after the last year of being unable to tour and travel, there were a lot of times when our actual homes didn’t really feel like home either, because where we really wanted to be was out travelling the world and playing shows!”
Furnari continues, “We are so psyched to finally shake the rust off and get back on the road after what will have been 16 months away from doing what we love most. We’ll be hitting some of those little pockets of the East Coast that we don’t get out to as often, as well as some spots that we’ve never been out to before.”
