The experimental duo enter a dreamlike state on their explorative new track.

Plastic Face is the Sydney-based duo Pete Stals and Will Coleman, the enigmatic artists behind their signature masks.

Delivering a dark, eclectic sound, Plastic Face draws from influences such as Tame Impala, Arca, and Drake.

Following up from their dancehall-infused debut single ‘2headedhorse,’ ‘HiiViSiON’ evokes the energy of 90’s house music. The track begins with soft, plucked guitars and reverb-drenched vocals, with swelling synths and thumping bass taking over the chorus.

With contemplative lyrics such as ‘Have you seen a rat trying to fly?’ Plastic Face breaks down the meaning of ‘HiiViSiON.’

“The song isn’t really about someone, it’s more a state of mind.  This year has been so bananas it kind of represents our feeling towards it…Life and experiences make us tick, strange and unique.”

The accompanying music video perfectly captures the mystery of Plastic Face. Creating a dreamlike state with hazy and disjointed scenes, a nighttime car trip in the rain takes a bizarre turn.

Set in complete darkness save for hints of green and red light, the visuals share the eeriness of 90’s thriller films such as Donnie Darko. Directed by Sean Donovan, Plastic Face explain that they were inspired by his previous work.

“We all agreed we wanted something mysterious, dark and thought-provoking.  Something to entice people to dip their toes into our world so to speak and come up with their own answers.

“We pulled together an incredible team with the little resources we had and made something we’re so happy with.”

Now, Plastic Face are eager to release more of their new music.

“We’ve loved making it, it’s been such a random unique process as it always is with the two of us.  We are so amped and can’t wait for everyone to wrap their eyes and ears around our work.”
