With over 200,000 Sunflowers blooming, you're sure to find the perfect bunch.
There’s just something about sunflowers, isn’t there? Bright and wholesome, sunflowers radiate a cheeriness that positively lifts spirits and makes you feel pretty darn good.
If you’ve been patiently waiting the past 12 months to get out in the sunny weather and pick your favourite blooms to bring home, you’re in luck, because there’s a truly wonderful Sunflower Farm located in Dunnstown (near Ballarat) that has over 200,000 sunflowers blooming across its land.
Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.
Located on a 15-acre private farm, owners Laiken and Karl Britt open up their gates for the general public to pick the bright-yellow sunflowers for approximately 4-6 weeks each year from mid-February.
Grab your bucket and secateurs (or scissors) and hurry!
Open every day, from 10am to 5pm (6pm on weekends), visitors are able to wander Victoria’s biggest sunflower field while hand-picking beautiful sunflowers as you like and snap a bunch of fresh pics for the gram. For only a measly $5 entry fee, and $2 per stem you can take home your very own bunch. There’s no limit to how many you pick either!
Having just opened up their bookings for this weekend, more picking dates will be released weekly. On weekdays you can head down anytime between 10am and 5pm, while weekends have two different picking sessions available – from 10am to 1pm, or 1pm 6pm.
Visitors are advised to wear suitable shoes for walking around the paddock and watch out for any snakes or bees in the area. Dogs are also welcomed (making for an even cuter Instagram post) but will have to remain on a leash at all times. And remember, this is an outdoor event with no cover if it is raining it is a good idea to bring an umbrella and wear boots, the picking session will go ahead!
We’ve all seen and envied the photos of endless sunflowers in a field. Speculating where we could possibly dally among these gorgeous flowers and take a snap just like that? Well, now you know. Don’t sleep on it.
