Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest, Passes Away Aged 45

Rapper Phife Dawg, best known for being a member of the pioneering rap group A Tribe Called Quest, has passed away aged 45.

The musician has long had serious health issues, receiving a kidney transplant from his wife in 2008.

A Tribe Called Quest was originally formed in 1985 with classmates Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad.

The group recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of their debut release, People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm, and did so via reforming and performing on Jimmy Fallon.
