Big things are happening at the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, as preparations ramp up for its highly anticipated opening.
The venue, managed by the Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET), is actively recruiting a local team to lead operations, with 12 key positions set to be filled over the next few months.

The Centre’s newly appointed General Manager, Rick Aylett, is overseeing the recruitment drive, which includes roles such as Executive Chef, Event and Venue Operations Manager, Marketing Specialist, and Sales Executives. These positions will play a crucial role in establishing Nyaal Banyul as a world-class convention hub on Geelong’s picturesque waterfront.
With construction well underway, the centre will feature a 1000-seat theatre and 3700 sqm of versatile event space, perfect for everything from local community events to large-scale conferences and concerts. Once completed, Nyaal Banyul is expected to be a game-changer for Geelong, creating jobs and boosting the region’s economy through increased tourism and a stronger supply chain.
The recruitment drive is only the beginning. As the construction progresses, more roles will open up, ensuring that the centre will not only bring high-profile events to the region but also support a growing local workforce.
