Noonday Axeman makes his presence known with debut single ‘Rolling Tide’

Earning himself a solid reputation within the local music scene over the past few years, Geelong bred, Melbourne-based musician Nick Lovell is back in full force this month revealing the debut single from his new venture Noonday Axeman.

The track, ‘Rolling Tide’, sees Lovell break open this new chapter with confidence.

Short and sweet, clocking in at two minutes and 31 seconds, ‘Rolling Tide’ leaves an indelible sonic impression on the listener and the dirty fuzz guitars ferments a desire for more.

Championed by a deep growling bass line throughout and crunchy riffs that slide from the guitar to your ear, the single is driven by foot-thudding drums and Lovell’s top notch bluesy, relaxed vocals which are potent throughout, as he delivers lyrics that deal with the lack of control and the danger of the hive mind. Oozing effortless cool and woven together neatly with smooth production, it’s a calm and steady track, which never relents by breaking into anything harder rocking, maintaining those tasty 90s grunge vibes.

With nods to early Stone Temple Pilots, and in some parts Cobain-esque vocals, Noonday Axeman has captivated us right from the get-go. With a debut album on the way, we’re expecting big things from this one.
