Words by Staff Writer

Beloved homegrown festival says farewell to the season with a final gift to the local community.

Nightjar Festival, the vibrant and local cultural series, is gearing up for its grand finale with discounted tickets and a spotlight on the local community. Returning after a four-year hiatus, ‘The Series’ has transformed Torquay Common into a lively hub of music, entertainment, and community spirit throughout January.

To celebrate the last two nights of the festival, Nightjar is offering exclusive discounts for the loved local community, allowing local punters to enjoy the homegrown festivities at a reduced rate. Using the code “LOCAL” festival-goers can avail themselves of $15 adult tickets and $10 youth entry on Night Four, January 12th. Children nine years old and under still enter for free.

Simply mention the code at the gate upon entry on Friday night, or enter it when checking out online ahead of the event! It’s super simple and the result is some great savings for an incredible night of pure entertainment.

The festival, which kicked off last week, has already hosted a stellar lineup, featuring local talents like Victoriana Gaye Trio, South Atlas, Little Quirks, and renowned artists such as Harry James Angus, Yirrmal, and The Murlocs.

Now, as the final two nights approach, attendees can look forward to an even more incredible array of acts:

Night Three | Thursday 11 January 2023

Night Three promises a diverse range of performances, featuring Immy Owusu, Leah Senior Trio, Steph Strings, Little Georgia, Ash Grunwald, and Bobby Alu. This night will showcase a blend of genres and talent, providing an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

Night Four | Friday 12 January 2023

The festival’s last night will see the return of Geelong rockers, The Hollow Majors, alongside Melbourne’s Brooke Taylor, Leroy Macqueen, CHAPERONE, ARIA-winning artist Fanny Lumsden, and Melbourne-based Australian rock/blues trio, The Vasco Era closing out the epic Nightjar Festival Program.

CEO Lyndelle Flintoft expressed her excitement about Nightjar Festival’s return, highlighting its multifaceted approach. “We’re back to make Torquay come alive! Nightjar Festival is not just about music; it’s a fusion of good food, talented stallholders, and a community vibe.”

Beyond the music, Nightjar Festival offers a range of activities, including roving performers, free face painting, welcome to country ceremonies, and a free silent disco. The festival has introduced pre-event ticketing for a smoother entry process, along with exciting prizes for ticket holders, enhancing the overall experience.

Nightjar Festival remains inclusive with designated drinking zones, supporting local breweries and distilleries.

As Torquay anticipates the culmination of ‘The Series,’ Nightjar Festival promises a spectacular conclusion, reinforcing the significance of local festivals for community engagement and cultural celebration.
