Newtown creative studio The KO to say goodbye at 2024 close, hosting studio furniture sale

Words by Staff Writer

Bubbling in creative energy and collaboration, The KO has been a saviour studio space for Geelong art makers.

Nestled into the quiet Lambert Avenue court of Newtown, the sunlit shared studio space of The KO has housed some of the Geelong region’s more inspired creative artists, building a community of collaborative creatives and elevating the art scene through workshops and markets.

Sadly as 2024 draws to a close, the team behind The KO have decided it’s time to move on from the space, vacating the property and opting to operate in a digital and pop-up format moving forward.

In an announcement posted to their Instagram, studio spearheads Karina and Olivia shared the news.

“We’re vacating our beautiful studio space at Lambert Avenue from the end of this year, with our last day of operation being the 18th December. We have very limited availability to book the space up until this date, so please get in touch sooner rather than later.”

The post continued to say, “While there’s certainly mixed feelings about moving on from our sunny space, we feel so grateful to be a part of the remarkable creative community that thrives in Geelong and to have met so many wonderful people during out time at Lambert Ave. This is certainly not a goodbye! The KO will continue to live on in the digital realm and we’re working on some IRL pop ups and events for 2025, just not in our current space, so stay tuned.”

“The most immense thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last five years, we are so grateful to all those who have walked through our doors for a shoot, workshop, event, market and many of the other incredible activations we’ve played host to along the way. Bring on the next chapter!”

Whilst the space will no longer exist, the creative community that The KO have fostered will certainly continue to thrive.

In the meantime, they are selling their studio furniture, with a dedicated Instagram running to get your hands on some of their items. You can jump in to make an offer here. Their current accounts will be active for their digital platforms to roll out.

Keep up to date with The KO and their future movements here.
