After taking the Melbourne burger scene by storm, Huxtaburger is heading to Geelong, marking its first store opening in regional Victoria.
Opening its doors at the former site of Armageddon Cakes and Tomi Lounge in Malop St on December 29, after numerous construction and distribution delays, the new venue marks the first of Huxtaburger’s Bar & Dine concepts.
To celebrate opening week, Huxtaburger is offering two-for-one house cocktails until January 5 2022 – including Giz Fizzes, Gin Mules and Vodka Blood Oranges. Check out the opening event on FB here.

Since opening its first burger joint in Collingwood in 2011, Huxtaburger has become one of Melbourne’s best and more top-notch gourmet burger spots, expanding to open stores in the CBD, Hawthorn, Prahan, Footscray, as well as across the border in Perth and Sydney.
While the cult burger brand has become renowned for its menu and restaurants, the Geelong venue promises to up the ante. With an extensive drinks list and obvious focus on the boozier side of the brand, the CBD store will become an experiential and entertainment venue, as well as remaining the go-to destination for drinks and burgers with friends.

Huxtaburger Geelong packs a larger footprint, and features a full cocktail bar, pool and pinball machines for a retro touch and a banging sound system set up for the finest local selectors and live bands. Essentially, you’ll still get the traditional Huxtaburger restaurant that we know and love, but with full-service bar and various elements of entertainment backyard – a pop-up food container or similar, surrounded by a beer-garden style seating area. As for the food, well you can expect a menu that revolves more around quality than quantity inside an American style diner. You’ll find sweet bread buns filled with grass-fed beef, jalapenos, sriracha mayo, fried chicken, and all the other good stuff. If you’re hungry, you can’t go past the Theo: double grass-fed beef patty, double cheese, bacon, bbq sauce, mustard, mayo, tomato, lettuce and pickles; or there’s the Denise: a spicy stack, built from grass-fed beef patty, jalapenos, Sriracha mayo, cheese, mustard, ketchup lettuce and pickles. If chicken’s more your thing, there’s the Henry with slaw, burger sauce and tomato, or the Britney, with avocado, bacon, aioli, cheese, lettuce and tomato. There’s even a brekkie burger for those early morning city dwellers.
Huxtaburger has also made plant-based diets even more appealing with the like of their Alternative Burger (made with a patty from The Alternative Meat Co, a vegan bun, grilled onions, fresh pickles, lettuce, tomato, melted vegan cheese and special sauce), the Earthling (kale, zucchini and quinoa patty, avocado, mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles), or the CHAD made with fried chick’n, lettuce, tomato, and house burger sauce.
They also do some pretty tasty fried chicken options, including wings, tenders and chicken sangas, plus the sides are always solid too. Think salty straight-cut cut fries, panko onion rings and cheesy bacon chips. There’s also kids packs for the little ones, and for dessert, they’ve got you covered with their ice cream burgers, out of this world thicc shakes and booze.

Huxtaburger Geelong opens its doors to the public on 29 December, which marks ten years since they first popped up in Collingwood with the original Huxtaburger restaurant.
Huxtaburger Geelong will trade from 11am to 10pm on weekdays and go late, until 1am on the weekend.
