Nevermind Adventure: The real way to explore the world.

Unique travel company, Nevermind Adventure, runs motorcycle tours to some of the world’s most isolated and beautiful cities. Forté chat to the man behind the company, Matthew Natonewski.

Hi Matt, thanks for chatting to us! How are you and what are you up to at the moment?
It’s been crazy. We are preparing (shitting myself) for a television show appearance to talk about Nevermind Adventure. We have a fully booked biking group in Rajasthan at the moment and Prime Minister of India – Narendra Modi has just abolished the Indian currency so we are trying to work our way around that!

What upcoming tours does Nevermind Adventure have in the new year?
We take two days off then head to South India on January 3rd to explore the spice trading routes of Kerala and South India. Then we head into the deserts and jungles of Rajasthan in January, February and April and then June through to September is the Himalayas and the worlds highest and most treacherous roads. We have something on all the time.

What benefits do these tours have for people wanting to travel?
Our Motorcycling “expeditions” are a great way to travel if you like authentic old school travel and back to basics motorcycling. We are not into ticking the sightseeing boxes, and pride ourselves on not so much providing, but facilitating, raw and uncensored ‘off the beaten track’ adventure. Our routes and itineraries have been carefully mapped out so as to show you the most amazing motorcycling on the planet. We work hard to find and discover these places and would like to keep these stunning places to ourselves so be prepared to be surprised at every twist and corner. Adventure motorcycling is our life.

How does exploring the world by bike differ to a regular trip overseas in your opinion?
Travelling by motorcycle allows us to get up close and personal with the environment and culture, to really be part of the landscape and not just a passer-by in an air-conditioned coach. The locals will respect you so much more for travelling the way they travel. You are in control of your own destiny, there is a real sense of achievement and adventure – hard to describe unless you have done it. This is not a luxury cruise ship holiday, this is real. It’s adventure and it’s raw and untamed. I think many of us are missing something in our sterile lives of flat screen TVs, 9 to 5 jobs, SUVs and wanky technology. Get out and live. Get dirty, sweat, bleed and be scared, be awe inspired and feel alive.

The recent video you guys released looks amazing thanks to Adventure Machine. Does it reflect how the tours all go?
I think the AM guys have really captured the innocent spirit of Nevermind. When I see that clip, I really see that we are taking people back to a simpler time. A time when you could ride all day exploring the world, dance all night, laugh all morning and then get up and do it all again without the fun police getting in the way.

How would a new rider best prepare for an upcoming tour?
Preparation is riding, ride as much and as often as you can in as many different kinds of terrains as you can. In all honesty, don’t worry about it – just do it and work it out along the way. You will be fine, we have your back.

Is there anything else you would like to add before we finish up?
Please come and visit us any time for a chat and to find out what it’s all about. We have local rides leaving on a regular basis down the Great Ocean Road and beyond which is a great way to experience what it’s all about. What are you waiting for??

Nevermind Adventure is located at 224 Pakington St, Geelong West.
