The Age has hailed it as a “fully immersive pop-up theatre venue,” emphasising how “all five magicians have things down to a fine art. The tricks themselves are varied and clever, with something to impress everyone.”

As the final weeks approach, the Maho Magic Bar introduces two new cast members: Ryota and Rika. Ryota brings a contemporary mischievous flair, while Rika showcases her exquisite Edo-style manipulation of traditional Japanese parasols, fans, and silks. They join audience favourites Kaori Kitazawa, Shirayuri, Jun Nakamura, and Patrick Collins.

For those looking to celebrate the festive season in style, Maho Magic Bar is now offering group bookings for 12 or more people and exclusive shows, ensuring a truly unique experience.

This interactive pop-up venue complements another of Broad Encounters’ immersive productions currently playing in Melbourne, ‘Love Lust Lost,’ which has been extended through to 26 November. As specialists in immersive entertainment, the company’s unique shows have garnered significant attention, demonstrating that audiences are craving these exhilarating experiences.

Maho Magic Bar is a combination of show and bar, offering an enchanting experience for all. You can choose from a bespoke bar menu while Japan’s finest sleight-of-hand specialists perform exclusive magic shows at your table. The libations menu features sake from three different Japanese regions, renowned whiskies, shochu, and rare spirits such as umeshu, a refreshing Japanese liqueur made from an infusion of sweet plums and green tea. Those with a more adventurous spirit can opt for the ‘Special Menu,’ which includes a surprise magic trick performed for the entire room.

Maho Magic Bar has been supported through the Melbourne City Revitalisation Fund – a $200 million partnership of the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne. The Melbourne Chinatown Association also supports this unique and enchanting experience.
