Need an excuse to drink some gin? Aussie distilleries are attempting to break a gin tasting Guinness World Record

There are 11 Victorian gin distilleries taking part.

Gin lovers unite. The crew from Gintonica, curators of Aussie craft distillers, are leading the charge in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record and earn the title of the Largest Gin Tasting Event (at multiple venues).

With the aim to encourage gin lovers to flock back to gin distilleries and gin-centric bars Australia-wide, the event will run on Sunday November 22nd from 3pm to 5:30pm and will see Aussies around the nation take part in concurrent gin tastings.

There are over 60 Australian gin distilleries and gin-centric bars taking part in the Gintonica Ginormous Gin Tasting event. Currently, the world record is 796 simultaneous events happening at once but the Gintonica team are hoping to smash that with 2000 simultaneous tastings happening across Australia this November.

“It’s all about re-connecting gin lovers with Aussie gin distilleries and bars across the country. A bit of a re-group after what has been a challenging year for all,” said Gintonica’ s David Box.
“We hope by staging this event, craft gin lovers will have a damn good reason to get out and enjoy themselves, but more importantly lend a hand to all those distilleries and bars who have been hit hard.”

Regional Victorians will be able to hit up Great Ocean Road Gin in Airey’s Inlet, Lola at The Provincial Hotel in Ballarat (Kilderkin Distillery), Animus Distillery in Kyneton, and Reed & Co Distillery in Bright, among others, while Melbourne will see the event hosted at the likes of Patient Wolf Distilling Co in Southbank, Brogan’s Way in Richmond and Little Lon Distilling Co in Melbourne.
