These revered musicians will showcase a musical tapestry weaved from the cherished pages of the Mushroom catalogue. Audiences can look forward to anthems such as ‘Working Class Man’, ‘Holy Grail’, ‘Sweet Disposition’, ‘Riptide’, ‘Hoops’, ‘It’s Only the Beginning’, ‘Before Too Long’, and ‘Living In The 70’s’, among other gems.

These musical luminaries and their time-honoured tunes have, for decades, painted the soundtrack of countless lives across the nation. But Mushroom 50 Live isn’t just about nostalgia; it’s a glimpse into the future as well, with emerging Mushroom artists poised to make their indelible mark on the Australian music landscape.

In a night that promises to be nothing short of electrifying, fans can also anticipate special pre-recorded messages and performances from cherished Mushroom associates who, despite their absence, will be part of this musical tapestry.

Mushroom Group’s Chief Executive, Matt Gudinski, shared,

“This is going to be an incredible once-in-a-lifetime night, to commemorate fifty years of great Mushroom music and Australian talent. The Mushroom family is determined to bring together a special evening for all involved. With more than twenty artists performing as part of the event, this will be a true celebration of Australian music and a showcase of our thriving local music scene and its history. I know my late father would be very proud of what we are putting together.”

As depicted in the recent documentary ‘Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story,’ Mushroom Records was founded by Michael Gudinski in 1972 when he was just twenty. It has since burgeoned into Australia’s most influential music company. This year, Mushroom marks fifty years of unforgettable songs, artists, and moments that have indelibly shaped the country’s vibrant music scene.

Mushroom 50 Live follows in the footsteps of historic Mushroom anniversary celebrations. The year 1983 saw Mushroom’s 10th birthday bash, featuring the legendary Mushroom Evolution Concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Fast forward to 1998, the record-breaking Mushroom 25 Live concert at the MCG – a monumental event in Australian music history, boasting 73,000 attendees.

Mushroom 50 Live is presented in collaboration with ALWAYS LIVE and Telstra as part of the ALWAYS LIVE 2023 programme, a seventeen-day state-wide celebration of contemporary live music, championed by the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria, an initiative originally conceived by Mushroom’s founder, Michael Gudinski.

Telstra is proudly returning to support Mushroom 50 Live, continuing their involvement since the Mushroom 25 Concert. Two dollars from each ticket will be donated to Support Act’s Ausmusic T-Shirt Day campaign.

The Telstra Plus presale kicks off on Friday, 13th October at 2:00 pm AEDT, followed by the Frontier Touring members presale on Monday, 16th October at 1:00 pm AEDT. The general public sale begins on Wednesday, 18th October at 3:00 pm AEDT. For more info, head here
