Born in Paris, this pop-up picnic tradition is coming to a secret location in Ballarat.
Ballarat will become the first regional Victorian city to host a worldwide dining phenomenon that is sweeping the globe.
Le Dîner en Blanc, touted as the world’s poshest picnic, will come to Ballarat on Saturday 1 April from 5pm.

Launching in Paris in 1988, the movement, which involves participants wearing elegant, all-white clothes and dining outside in a large group, is now held in more than 120 cities worldwide.
An international spectacle that welcomes thousands of guests every year, all dressed in white, the event is always held at a secret location, which is only revealed to attendees at the last minute. In Ballarat, the location will also remain a mystery.
At the last minute, this secret location is revealed to thousands of friends who have all been patiently waiting to learn where “Dîner en Blanc” will take place. Thousands of people, dressed all in white, and conducting themselves with the greatest decorum, elegance, and etiquette, all meet for a mass “chic picnic” in a public space.

Over the course of the evening, guests experience the beauty and value of their city’s public spaces by participating in the unexpected.
Headlining the Ballarat entertainment will be DJ John Course, supported by a bunch of homegrown talent including Twilight Gypsí.
Details of the wine and gourmet hampers available have also been revealed, which will be available for pre-purchase from the region’s. These include Heirloom Catering Co, Mitchell Harris Wines, Michael Unwin Wines, Latta Vino and Taltarni Vineyards.
