Miami is bringing all the holiday vibes of the coastal US city to Torquay

WORDS BY MACKENZIE PENNYCOOK

It’s good times only at Miami.

Meet Miami, the restaurant (which is truly one of the cutest I’ve seen) giving the illusion of being on holiday right in Torquay.

Located on bell street in picturesque Torquay, stepping inside Miami makes all your interior design dreams come true. Opening prior to the pandemic last year, the venue has created a hidden oasis boasting baby pink, palm fronds and rattan light fixtures. It’s truly something to see.

Alongside the gorgeous interior, the restaurant is serving up incredible food in an equally incredible location.

Their extensive menu consists of everything from small plates and grilled items to side, salads and desserts. To start, you’ll find the likes of olives, grilled corn on the cob, chorizo sliders, ceviche, croquettes and empanadas. Larger dishes come in the form of prawns, octopus, 48-hour slow cooked beef short rib, steaks of the day, chicken and 16 hour slow cooked duck legs, plus a number of vegetarian dishes such as grilled portobello mushrooms, broccolini and cashew paste and patatas bravas (cripsy potatoes with spicy tomato sauce). As for the salads, there’s potato salad, quinoa and lettuce.

And of course, how could we forget dessert? You won’t be able to say no to these with grilled pineapple with coconut sorbet and parsnip (vegan); churros with chocolate sauce; cheese with sweet potato ice cream and sunflower; and an alfajor with limes shortbread, coconut, and dulce de leche ice cream.

Miami Torquay is serving up delicious food in house, but takeaway is also available if you’re looking to bring the incredible flavours of Miami Torquay to your own home.

Can’t decide what to get? Never fear they also have a FEED ME option on Monday nights, which sees a chef’s selection of five dishes, paired with a beer, wine or sangria for $40 per person, as well as a seven plate Miami Chef menu for $60 per person and a five plate vegan chef menu for $50 per person.

In addition to the multitude of menu options, Miami Torquay has a range of cocktails sure to have your mouth watering, including an Aperol Spritz, margaritas, a Miami Pina Colada and a fancy Flowstate gin and tonic. You’ll also find a pretty extensive wine list, tap beer from Bell’s Beach Brewery, plus bottled beers, ciders and soft drinks.

Open for dinner from 5.30pm Thursday nights through Monday, Miami is a venue that shouldn’t be missed for foodies and interior design lovers alike.

Keep up to date on their Facebook page for special events, including chefs table nights, that give customers the chance to chat with the chefs and see just how food is prepared at Miami Torquay.

You can find Miami at 32 Bell Street, Torquay. Call 5261 5381 to book your table.
