Love comedy, love wine? This is an unmissable event to warm you up this winter.

Looking to elevate your next night out? Why not spend it tasting six wines and having a laugh with beloved comedian and wine connoisseur Merrick Watts in his new show, ‘An Idiot’s Guide to Wine’.

After a sold-out series of shows at both the Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival, beloved radio veteran (renowned as half of Merrick and Rosso), SAS winner and stand-up comic Merrick is bringing his smash hit show to Geelong!

It might come as a surprise, but Watts isn’t just good for a laugh and a listen – he’s also a qualified wine expert with a level three WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust) award and a Barossa Master qualification under his belt.

In his new show ‘An Idiot’s Guide to Wine’, audience members are invited to taste six different wines hand-picked by Watts in a comedy-show format.

As well as a 70-minute wine tasting show, audience members will receive a three-course meal prepared by the culinary wizards at the beautiful Mt Duneed Estate. You’ll find wandering canapes in the form of Chicken and shitake dumplings, Truffle scented chickpea chips and Chicken, harissa and fetta spring rolls; alternative mains of either Crispy skin chicken breast, pearl barley risotto, slow-baked pumpkin, pickled mushroom, black garlic jus, or Roasted and sliced wagyu rump, potato and goats cheese gratin, green beans, Shiraz tomatoes, beetroot and peppercorn jus; before finishing with an indulgent dessert platter. Think baked chocolate pots, mini churros, raspberry curd meringue tarts, maple-infused honeycomb and black sesame and white chocolate shortbread.

Once the meal is done, DJ Pedro Moshman will be providing the tunes for the kick-on.

Whether you are a connoisseur or an enthusiast, there is something for everyone. Comedy meets wine, laughter meets learning, and you get to drink! What more could you want?
