Melbourne zoos are still live-streaming their adorable animals

Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo may be temporarily closed until further notice, but they’re still providing animal lovers with all the warm and fuzzy feels by live-streaming the daily antics of some of their adorable furry friends.

By simply heading to the Zoos Victoria website, you can check out 24/7 live streams of Melbourne Zoo’s adorable snow leopard cubs, be charmed by their majestic giraffes and zebras, and indulge in a few hours of viewing the hilariously friendly penguins who spend their days waddling around and snuggling each other.

Over at Werribee Open Range Zoo, it’s the lazy lions who are on show, alternating between roaming their enclosure and lapping up the sun rays. You’ll also be able to spot the zookeepers from time to time who offer a bit of entertainment of their own. Fortunately for the animals they live in areas larger than what the camera can actually see. If you can’t see them right now, Melbourne Zoos recommends checking back later.

While the live streams are adorable and we love them, the cherry on top comes from new that the state government is handing over $14 million to be shared between Phillip Island Nature Parks and Zoo Victoria’s three sites, which includes Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Open Range and Healesville Sanctuary to ensure their survival.

The package includes $5.5 million for Zoos Victoria and $8.8 million for Phillip Island Nature Parks which will be used to allow them to continue operating, keep 785 staff employed and continue their conservation work with threatened flora and fauna, marine wildlife rescue and ongoing rehabilitation for native species impacted by the recent bushfires.

In times like these, this is exactly the news we need.

Head over to the Zoo’s website to watch the animals live now. FYI, if you’re supposed to be working, this is going to be highly distracting.
