Melbourne Youth Orchestra embark on their first-ever regional Victorian performance, playing a historic show at Ulumbarra Theatre
Under the baton of the dynamic and inspiring guest conductor, Carlo Antonioli, Melbourne Youth Orchestra take on a fiery new work Fire and Passion.
As the leading Victorian ensemble of music of members made up of 8 to 25 years of age, the Melbourne Youth Orchestra are renowned for their exciting live performances. Playing in a regional setting for the first time, their show at Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre on Sunday 30 June will be no exception.

In what is promised to be a program “brimming with the fiery energy of Romantic and 20th-century music traditions”, Melbourne Youth Orchestra are set to take on the greats of the genre in a spectacular showcase. From the dramatic melodies of Prokofiev to the romantic lyricism of Rachmaninoff, to the rich, vibrant soundscapes of Dvorak, Melbourne Youth Orchestra and Carlo Antonioli will bring the music to life on the stage.
In addition to the giants, The Melbourne Youth Orchestra will also be joined by talented young pianist, Ronan Apcar, for Rachmaninoff’s virtuosic and stirring ‘Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini’, and Australian composer Jessica Wells’ work, ‘Uplift’ will be showcased. ‘Uplift’ is a colour-filled and eclectic fanfare, sure to showcase the skills of the orchestra in all its glory and weave together the dynamic and passionate elements of the program.
