Mastering Music, Mastering Life Mental Health Summit is going down this March

Mastering Music Mastering Life kicks off its 2018 program with a special event at the Croxton Front Bar on the 25th of March, focusing on the mental health issues faced by music industry creatives.
Hosted by Tony “Jack the Bear” Mantz, with a panel that includes Matt Young (King Parrot), Morgan Leigh Brown (Acolyte), Ryan Hassan (Melbourne Centre of Healing) and Romina Di Benedetto (DJ Agent 86), The Mastering Music, Mastering Life Mental Health Summit will tackle discussions relating to the challenges facing professionals both within the music industry and those in all artistic and creative endeavours when it comes to maintaining positive mental health.
Mastering Music Mastering Life, the weekly podcast that has grown into a bi-annual event, is the brain child of Melbourne music identity Tony “Jack the Bear” Mantz, and includes support from his mastering protégé Tom Beard and Tom Overend of The Backline Project.
A successful mastering engineer involved in the industry since 1990, Mantz now runs Deluxe Mastering in Melbourne. “Mastering Music Mastering Life provides a forum for industry professionals from all facets of the business to share their stories on how they entered the industry, the challenges they have faced since, and more importantly how they have managed to overcome them,” Mantz explains.
With a particular focus for the event in March Mantz continues, “we hope to put a greater focus on mental health for this event, which in our industry is a major issue facing many people.”
Discussions will also look at substance abuse, addiction issues and general life challenges around work, life and relationships as well as looking at practical ways to deal with these important topics.
With the goal of creating Mastering Music, Master Life events as not for profit initiatives, all of this year’s planned events will be only seeking a gold coin donation for entry, with any proceeds above the cost of running the sessions going to Support Act, a charity created to offer support for those struggling within the music community.
The first Mastering Music Mastering Life podcast for 2018 happens on Sunday 4th Feb with Katie Underwood and streams live from the MMML Facebook page 6.30pm AEST
