Whether you’re looking for a beautifully unique classical music performance or a romantic candlelit experience out in the open air, these enchanting candlelight concerts are fusing balmy nights with beautiful music, offering a momentary escape from all the COVID, RATs, restrictions and vaccine mandate talk we’ve all experienced these past few weeks.
Since late 2020, Fever – a global platform that curates lists of the most exciting events going on in your city – has been delivering beautiful candlelight concerts across some of Melbourne’s most magical locations, including The Athenaeum and St James’ Old Cathedral.

For the first time since its inception, the concerts are heading to regional Victoria with two special open-air candlelight concerts in Geelong.
Taking to the stunning surrounds of the Geelong Botanic Gardens, the candlelit experience will see the gardens illuminated for a spectacular evening of music beneath the stars on Friday, January 28 and Saturday, January 29 2022.
In an ode to the greatest works of classical music, the first evening will see stirring renditions of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons as performed by Vivace Collective, a string ensemble.
One of Vivaldi’s most recognisable pieces, Four Seasons are four violin concertos depicting the seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. They are some of the most extravagant examples of music that tells a story from the baroque period. Rest assured, you don’t need to know all things Vivaldi to enjoy the evening; simply sit back and savour the stunning atmosphere and pieces you’ll hear. Guided by the musicians, audiences are gifted an evening under the stars gently illuminated by candlelight, as they’re taken into the clouds with Vivaldi’s most treasured masterpieces!
The second evening, in our opinion, will be one to get to with famous musical scores from some of our favourite films. Delivering a night of fantasy and sci-fi surrounded by the gentle glow of candlelight, you’ll listen to musical masterpieces created by the brilliant minds of Hans Zimmer and John Williams, among others. No doubt these tracks will sound familiar, as they give life to films such as Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Back To The Future, Game of Thrones and Star Wars.
Still, with this concert’s sublime performance and stunning atmosphere, you’ll feel as if you’re listening to them for the first time.
Each evening will consist of two back-to-back 60-65 minute performances. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each show and no late entry is permitted. Please note that for the safety of the audience and performers, all of the candlelight will be provided through flameless candles.
