Editor’s Note
Geelong Arts Centre has become part of our city’s furniture (albeit sustainable stylish furniture that’s in the midst of the ultimate glow-up). Bringing a unique mix of theatre shows and music performances is tantalising enough as it is. Add in art and community, growth in activity, innovation, outstanding spaces and people at its heart, plus an often tidy price tag, and you have the perfect recipe for the ultimate entertainment destination.
2022 has been a brilliant reflection of this perfect recipe, and with the year coming to a close it’s time to bring in 2023 with a brand-new season of outstanding programs that break boundaries, start conversations and celebrate innovation. With the Geelong Arts Centre’s 2023 season launch imminent, we take a look at the ways they’ll be injecting a renewed sense of artistic energy and excitement into the region next year.
Looking at the music, it’s proving a pretty glorious time of year: We’ve got A Day on the Green, State of Mind and Chopped ready to make their summer stamps, putting on festive extravaganzas for their respective clientele.
Reminding us of the depth of talent that soars far beyond the heavy hitters in the industry, we sit down with a handful of emerging artists and newcomers that we think have gone over and above to show that they’re the ones looking out for in the year ahead.
Add in a few of our favourite burger spots worth visiting when the cravings hit and a new hotel to check out this summer, Forte is here to prove that good times come all year round.
